In a quiet, rural community.
The family of believers here have been serving the Walter Hill community as well as Murfreesboro, Leanna and other surrounding communities since 1896. Many families who attend the present day congregation are descendants of those faithful men who planted the Walter Hill Church.
Today, our congregation has
over 130 families and a membership of over 350. Individuals of all ages, infants to Seniors, comprise the Walter Hill congregation.
Most of you
know that my face turns red at the drop of a hat. However, I’ve
learned to live with my fair skin and to just get over my easy
embarrassment. But, I’m keenly aware of those who wish to avoid
any public attention directed at them. That’s why I dislike
visiting congregations that make visitors stand or have a period
of greeting one another after services begin. I do enjoy people
greeting me but I prefer it to be natural rather than forced.
Thankfully, our elders want to make
it easy on those who choose to place membership here at Walter
Hill. After meeting with you, they will ask if you would like to
stand and be recognized (so the congregation knows who you are)
and also if you wish to stand in the hallway and be welcomed as
we go to our classes. There is no pressure put on anyone to do
either. We just want our new members to do what is comfortable
for them. (But please let us take your picture so people can
visually recognize you as part of our family!)
If you are a disciple of Christ
(Matt. 28:19-20 & Acts 2:38), we invite you to become a part of
this congregation. Our Lord, in His infinite wisdom, chose to
have shepherds in His church to see to the needs of His people.
But shepherds cannot oversee sheep unless they know which flock
they’re in. We want you to worship with us but we also want you
to be part of this flock. I’m thankful for our shepherds who
will give an account some day for watching over my soul (Acts
20:28 & Heb. 13:17). Once again, the process of placing
membership is simple. Just mark the appropriate box on the
attendance card and our elders (shepherds) will contact you.
We sincerely want to meet your
spiritual needs. Won’t you let us serve you as part of the body
of Christ at Walter Hill?
